What’s the difference between Sterling Silver and regular Silver?

You may have heard of “sterling silver”, but what makes it different from pure silver or “regular” silver?

Well, it’s simple…

Sterling silver is often polished and has other shiny metals added to it (often zinc or copper) for a more “shiny” and presentable appearance. Because of the shiny appearance, Sterling silver is often the type of silver that is used for jewelry. Who doesn’t want their jewelry to be shiny??

Sterling silver is usually about 92.5% silver, where pure silver is 100% silver. Because of the fact that sterling silver is only 92.5%, it makes sterling worth a bit less than pure silver.

The price of sterling silver currently is about $28.67 an ounce.
